GEMBOREE 2012

Great weather, great fun, great friendship and great crowds, what more could we have hoped for to give us a great GEMBOREE. The committee would like to thank all of our volunteers, they are the backbones of the event, fetching, carrying, cleaning, manning gates, souvenir and raffle tables, canteen etc etc.

Medals and trophies have been awarded and congratulations go to the winners. Those who have entered for the first time should be proud of their efforts and be encouraged to continue and improve. All entries were displayed and provided a wonderful high quality exhibition for the public.

The results will be posted on this website in the next few days.

Congratulations to our two Princesses, Rachel Hill (senior) and Jaynie Hackett (Junior) and our Prince, Thomas Hopwood.

Lectures were well attended over the weekend and I am sure that they provided lots of information and tips to be used when people get back home. The children’s beading workshops were also very popular with several of the young rockhounds sporting new bracelets and necklaces.

Saturday saw a full bus head off to Mt. Perry and a fantastic tour of the Mt. Rawdon gold mine, stopping at the Mystery Craters along the way. Returning after lunch in Mt. Perry via the Boolbunda Tunnel and an abandoned Molybdenite mine site.

To all of our visitors a big Thank You for your support of our GEMBOREE and for the positive feedback, it makes our four years of hard work all worth it.

Trish Flynn
GEMBOREE Comm. Pres.
